Ashfield, MA was first settled in 1743 and incorporated in 1765. The town was originally named Hunttown but renamed when it was incorporated. Ashfield is in the eastern foothills of the Berkshire and lies along the Swift River. Ashfield Lake is near the center of town. The DAR State Forest is also partially in Ashfield. [...]
