Springfield to open cooling centers during anticipated heat wave
“The city will open cooling centers from Saturday through Monday in anticipation of a heat wave that is expected to hit Western Massachusetts.
The locations of the cooling centers have changed from previous years because of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the number of people allowed to enter the centers will be limited to 25, face masks will be required and those visiting the centers will be required to give their names, addresses and phone numbers so they can be contacted if someone at the center later tests positive for COVID-19, according to Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris.”
