Farmers’ markets in the Pioneer Valley need your help! Farmers’ markets are working diligently with local officials and agencies to keep everyone safe as they plan for their seasons. They are looking for volunteers to help guide customers through the changes so that our communities can continue to access the freshest options for local food and we can all continue to directly support our farmers.
Volunteer tasks will vary by market. Volunteers will largely be needed to help enforce social distancing practices and explain to customers the new flow of markets (whether it be online ordering, waiting in certain queues, etc. Exact operational changes will vary by market.) Some markets can also set up arrangements whereby the volunteer gets a basket of fresh food from the vendors at the end of every market.
