Queen’s Greens is seeking a Post-Harvest Manager. Queen’s Greens is an organic vegetable farm in North Amherst and Sunderland Massachusetts. We grow baby greens, herbs and select vegetables. During the winter we grow spinach in our greenhouses. This is a year-round position for which we are seeking candidates who are interested in a long-term position.
The Post-Harvest Manager is in charge of our wash/pack operation and organizing customers orders. The PH manager also a leader for others working in the washroom (1-5 other people depending on task and time of year). A significant part of the job is washing and packing baby greens.
Main tasks:
- Lead crew in washing/packing produce – responsible for quality, speed, accuracy
- Responsible for ensuring quality of produce – proper handling, temperature, cleanliness
- Responsible for maintaining food safety protocols
- Responsible for filling orders and getting the right products to the right customers
- Customer service – many of our customers pick up their orders right out of the washroom
- When there is not post-harvest work to be done, the PH manager will do other farm work
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of vegetable quality, experience in produce whether on a farm or in another setting
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to multi-task
- Leadership – motivate, set pace, keep everyone on task and quality control
- Strong work ethic, ability to take on responsibility, ready to learn, enthusiastic about quality produce
- Can lift up to 50 pounds
Hours vary by season from 20 to 50 hours/week
Starting pay is in the range of $13-$15/hour depending on the applicant’s experience and skills
