Hiring: Wholesale Business Manager at Warner Farm

Farm Description: Warner Farm is a 10th generation diversified small fruit and vegetable farm located in Sunderland, Ma. We grow over 150 acres of both IPM (125 ac.) and certified organic (25 ac.) crops for wholesale throughout the Pioneer Valley as well as operate a 300-member CSA and attend farmers markets in Eastern Massachusetts. In the fall, Warner Farm is also home to Mike’s Maze, the Pioneer Valley’s world famous corn maze, and Zombie Night Patrol, our premier haunted paintball attraction. Job Description: This key position (wholesale is one of our farm’s primary marketing outlets) is responsible for managing and overseeing the farm’s 50+ wholesale accounts, ranging from restaurants to national grocery chains, and pack house activities. Manager also works closely with Farm Crew Leader, CSA and Market Manager, and Farm General Managers to ensure crop quality and accurate availability lists. This position may involve some basic tractor work and filling in with other assorted farm tasks as needed

 

Duties include in priority order: communicating with wholesale customers to ensure work is timely and accurate; customer satisfaction; establishing availability lists; communicating with farmers and distributing lists to customers on a weekly basis; compiling orders and creating invoices daily; coordinating daily harvests with crew leaders and other farm management; managing crop washing and packing to ensure a high level of produce quality; effectively managing a packing house crew of 3-4 people; maintain and clean vegetable washing equipment and area in order to present the farm in a professional manner and ensure adherence to Commonwealth Quality standards; coordinating daily deliveries and pick-ups; coordinating with other farm management to ensure the completion of necessary daily tasks; flexibility, cooperation, and a team approach are essential in the completion of all duties.

Will train right person with proven track record of:

Accurately processing customer orders in a timely manner

Strong communication skills and an outgoing personality to facilitate crop sales

Ability to effectively manage staff

Ability to lift up to 40lb

Strong work ethic

Ability to operate autonomously

 

Preferred:

Sales and marketing experience

Previous farm and tractor driving experience

Experience with Quickbooks

This is a seasonal position running from May-October requiring up to 60 hours per week during the height of the season (June-August). Opportunities for part time work in the off-season exist for motivated individuals. $10-14/hr and access to delicious and fresh produce.
