Valley Bounty, May 3, 2014: Veggie Starts

May 3 2014

Locally grown bedding plants are chosen with our climate and growing conditions in mind, and buying direct from the farm allows you to get variety recommendations and growing tips right from the source. If you are new to gardening, make sure to ask about planting dates, as it’s still too cool for some heat-loving plants. If you want a lot of variety in a small space, look for mixed-variety packs or for plants sold in two-packs so you can mix and match.

Here’s our list of farms growing bedding plants. Call to find out where they sell their plants or just stop by the farm stand or your favorite farmers market and pick them up!
