Off The Menu: Holiday offerings at Western Mass. restaurants

Here’s a just a sampling of the merriment that’s being offered.

Thanks to area restaurant owners and operators, there is still plenty of holiday themed food and fun on the agenda for the next several weeks.

Here’s a just a sampling of the merriment that’s being offered.

30Boltwood, the restaurant in Amherst’s Lord Jeffrey Inn, will once again be presenting Yuletide-themed events during the month of December.

On Saturdays, 30 Boltwood will be offering its Holiday Tea from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The menu for these afternoon teas will feature homemade scones and sliced pumpkin bread served with clotted cream, whipped butter, and fruit preserves; a selection of tea sandwiches will also be offered.

An individually brewed pot of tea is included, as are desserts such as chocolate budino tartlets and Paris-Brest.

Live classical harp serves as a backdrop; tea is $25 per person, not including tax or gratuity.

On Sunday mornings 30Boltwood will host Sunday brunch with Santa. The Jolly Old Elf will be hand from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 20; in addition to 30Boltwood’s regular brunch fare, a special young folks menu will be available.

Starting December 14, the Munich Haus in Chicopee will be presenting a German Weihnacts Fest featuring the Dan Kane Singers.

Caroling will take place each evening starting at 6:30 p.m. through Dec. 23. A special menu of Central European holiday favorites will be available.

The Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland will be the site of a Holiday Dinner Dance on Friday, December 16.

The party will start at 6:30 p.m. with a selection of hors d’oeuvres that will include an antipasto buffet, baked brie en croute, Italian meatballs in spicy sauce, and more.

Sliced roast sirloin of beef and pork loin stuffed with apples and cheddar will be carving station highlights. They’ll be joined by options such as breast of chicken, salmon, and pasta quattro fromaggi.

A dessert station featuring double chocolate cake and pumpkin mousse will also be available.

Tickets to the dinner dance are priced at $50; tax and gratuity are additional.

The Salem Cross Inn has a few seats left at its upcoming Christmas Memories performances. Presented in conjunction with Stageloft Repertory Theater of Sturbridge, these dinner-theater events include a roast turkey feast along with a performance based on “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” by Dylan Thomas.

Chandler’s Restaurant at the Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield is sponsoring a Holiday Music Series on Thursday and Sunday evenings from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. this Christmas season. Tom Carroll will be featured on Dec. 11; T.J. & The Peepers will perform Dec.15. The series concludes with the Franklin County Community Chorus on Thursday, Dec. 22.
